From 29 September 29 to 7 October 2021, the "National Cultural Officials’ Quality and Competence Improvement Project - The 3rd Advanced Training Course for Theatre Acting Teachers of Art Colleges and Universities in China" jointly organized by the Chinese Theatre Literature Association and the Central Management Academy for Cultural and Tourist Officials was held in the Changli campus of the Central Management Academy for Cultural and Tourist Officials. Professor He Yan was invited to give lectures on 4 October to acting teachers from art schools and art troupes, practitioners and researchers of acting and directing art from across China.
On 5 October 2021, Professor He Yan, as the final evaluation expert and award presenter, attended the 6th Academy Awards of Musical. Founded in 2016, the "Academy Awards of Musical" is a public welfare activity of professional practice for musical sponsored by the School of Art of Peking University, co-sponsored by the Department of International Cooperation of Peking University, supported by the China Theatre Association and the Haidian District Cultural Development Promotion Centre, and organized by the National Music and Musical Research Centre of the School of Art of Peking University and the China musical Incubation Park. Because of its professional influence and positive social benefits, the "Academy Awards of Musical" was successfully shortlisted in the “Times Higher Education Asia Awards - Excellence and Innovation Award for Art” in 2020. Professor He Yan presented the "Excellent Performance Team" award. The winners of this award were the "Red Plum Blossom" team of the China-ASEAN Academy of Art, the "Life Choice" team of the Nanjing University of the Arts and the "Far Away" team of the Beijing Song and Dance Theatre.
From 10 to 12 October 2021, the 1st International Forum on Talents Training of Chinese Musical Theatre & the Establishment ceremony of the Performing Arts Committee of China Musical Theatre Association was successfully held in the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. He Yan, professor, doctoral advisor and dean of the Acting Department of Shanghai Theatre Academy, was elected deputy director of the Performing Arts Committee of China Musical Theatre Association. He also made a keynote presentation entitled “Research on Contemporary Actors Training Methods” at the International Forum on Talents Training of Chinese Musical Theatre, and conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions with the counterparts on the research and practice results of acting. At the same time, Professor He Yan presided over the keynote presentations entitled “Looking at Talents Training of British Musical Theatre from a Welsh perspective” given by Vivien Care, Director of the Musical Theatre Program of Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, “Some Thoughts on Basic Acting Course” given by Zhong Hao, President of the China Musical Theatre Association, and “Exploration of Industry-Learning-Research Integrated Teaching Method for Musical Theatre” given by An Dong, director of the Performing Arts Committee of China Musical Theatre Association. The wonderful sharing of academic results by experts brought new styles and new ideas to the development of Chinese musical theatre acting and musical theatre education.
