On the morning of 3 July, the plaque unveiling ceremony of the "Dramaturgy Journal” theatrical research base was held successfully in the main hall of the Longqing Temple in Xinbang Town of Shanghai’s Songjiang District, Professor Lu Jun, chairman of the Academic Committee of Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA), president of the Songjiang District Federation of Literary and Artistic Circles, director of the Humanistic Songjiang Creation Research Institute, and editor-in-chief of the “Dramaturgy Journal”, and teachers and students of dramaturgy from STA participated in the ceremony. After the ceremony, Professor Lu Jun made a brief speech, in which he introduced the relevant situations of Xinbang Town as a land of theatre, the dramaturgy and the “Dramaturgy Journal”, and outlined the development vision of the Longqing Temple Buddhist Theatrical Research Base.
Subsequently, accompanied by the Party and government leaders of Xinbang Town, the teachers and students of dramaturgy from STA went to the Xinbang Lotus Base for a visit. After visiting the lotus base, the leaders of Xinbang Town took the teachers and students of dramaturgy from STA to the Dafangan Red Base for a tour of the exhibition of historical materials about Chen Yun and the Songjiang District Farmers' Uprising. In the afternoon of the same day, the opening report defense meeting of the graduate students of dramaturgy was successfully completed at the Humanities Songjiang Creation Research Institute. Each student elaborated on the outline of his/her script and the topic selection of his/her thesis, and the expert judges also gave suggestions accordingly. The defense meeting lasted from noon to evening, and the students also had a clearer direction and a deeper understanding of their own creation and research after going through the defense meeting.
As the dramaturgy teaching base of Shanghai Theatre Academy, Songjiang has always been the first choice for teachers and students to carry out social surveys, find out people's feelings and opinions, collect materials for creation and put the "curriculum-based ideological and political education" into practice. With the establishment of the Shanghai Theatre Academy Songjiang Incubation Base for College Students’ Innovation and Entrepreneurship on 16 June earlier this year and the establishment of the “Dramaturgy Journal” Longqing Temple Buddhist Theatrical Research Base on 3 July, the “win-win” cooperation between STA and Songjiang in the areas of theatre education, talent training, innovation and entrepreneurship, “field-based ideological and political education” and so on will become closer, more effective and even better received by the teachers and students of STA and the people of Songjiang.
