From 16 to 17 June, Xie Wei, Party Secretary of Shanghai Theatre Academy, led a research team of 8 members from the Department of Acting to visit National Theatre of China, Central Academy of Drama, Beijing People's Art Theatre and Beijing Film Academy for research and study on teaching, talent cultivation and employment related matters.
On the morning of 16June, the research team of the Department of Acting visited the National Theatre of China. The two sides made in-depth discussion and exchange on the advantages of and problems existed in the source of students from Shanghai Theatre Academy’s Department of Acting, the standards and requirements for talent acquisition of the National Theatre of China as an employer, and the current policies of talent acquisition. At the same time, the two sides reached consensus on strengthening academic cooperation and cooperation in personnel training in the future.
On the afternoon of 16 June, the research team of the Department of Acting visited Central Academy of Drama. The research team first watched the important play of CAD Department of Acting’s teaching reform, i.e. “Three Sisters”, the graduation production of the double degree undergraduate program in drama, film and television acting, and then carried out detailed exchange and discussion with the leaders of CAD Department of Acting and the head of its various teaching research sections in terms of positioning of majors, curriculum design, student management, student recruitment and postgraduate training, and also shared experience and practices of work.
On the morning of 17 June, the research team of the Department of Acting came to Beijing People's Art Theatre. The research team first visited the Drama Museum of Beijing People's Art Theatre. Subsequently, in the conference room, the two sides had a detailed exchange of experience on talent training, and communicated with each other on the current talent acquisition policies of Beijing People's Art Theater. At the same time, the two sides proposed the intention for further strategic cooperation. Famous performing artist Pu Cunxin participated in the exchange. Finally, the research team had a discussion with graduates from Shanghai Theatre Academy’s Department of Acting currently working in Beijing People's Art Theatre, and got good feedback on teaching from them.
On the afternoon of 17 June, the research team of the Department of Acting visited Beijing Film Academy. The research team visited the History Exhibition Hall and the College of Acting of Beijing Film Academy. The two sides shared and exchanged views on the positioning of specialties, excellent experience in specialty construction, teaching reform, curriculum design, student management and postgraduate training.
The research and study in Beijing on this occasion was an important measure of the research on the development strategies for theatre, film and television acting of Shanghai Theatre Academy’s Department of Acting. The research team successfully completed the research work with a realistic and pragmatic attitude. Through the research and study in Beijing, it not only gained valuable experience and advanced practices in teaching and student management from other universities, but also learned the advantages and disadvantages of talent training from employers, which provided important reference and help for addressing the problems and puzzles existed in the Department of Acting’s teaching and talent training.
