As the only International Class A film festival in China, the Shanghai International Film Festival is based on the positioning of "Asia, Chinese Language and Rising Artists". It has long been concerned about the growth and development of young filmmakers, exploring long-term support mechanism, and consciously assuming the responsibility of producing talents for China's film industry. As part of this year's Shanghai International Film Festival and Piaget's "Young Filmmakers Education Support Program", the two sides cooperated with the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA) College of Film, Shanghai University (SU) Shanghai Film Academy and Shanghai Vancouver Film School to jointly hold the "Extraordinary Master Class" course, and set up scholarships to support more outstanding young filmmakers to join in the creation, inherit and carry forward the spirit of craftsman in the film industry.

On the evening of 13 June, the Shanghai International Film Festival and Piaget jointly held the "Piaget Special Charity Event of the 24th Shanghai International Film Festival" in 1862 Art Center. Fu Wenxia, director and Tong Ying, deputy director of the Shanghai International Film and Television Festival Center, Li Zhenlin, dean of the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA) College of Film, Cheng Bo, deputy dean of Shanghai University (SU) Shanghai Film Academy, and Dean Burns, deputy dean of the Shanghai Vancouver Film School, as well as film master Ye Jintian and famous actors/actresses Zhao Yazhi, Liu Haoran and Lu Jingshan etc attended the event, jointly witnessing the launch of the series of activities of the "Shanghai International Film Festival & Piaget Young Filmmakers Education Support Program" and the award of the “Extraordinary Filmmaker” title, and paying tribute to the masters behind the scenes.
