The annual "See the Future - Exhibition of Works ofUndergraduate Graduates of Shanghai Theatre Academy’s College of Creative Studies" was held in the Changlin Road Campus from 8 to 16 May. On May 12, Xie Wei, Party Secretary of the Shanghai Theatre Academy, came to the exhibition venue to announce the opening of the exhibition and observe the students' works.
Since there was the first cohort of undergraduate graduates in 2011, the College of Creative Studies has held the exhibition of undergraduate graduates' works with the theme of "See the Future" every year. This year is also the first exhibition of graduates' works held in the new education space after the College of Creative Studies moved to the Changlin Campus.
The Class of 2017 undergraduate students of the College of Creative Studies are from the art administration major and the digital media art major respectively. 27 undergraduate students of art management have completed eight sets of graduation works in groups. The works planned and produced by them cover various types, such as performing arts, visual arts, radio, film and televisionetc, showing the professional ability and comprehensive quality of art administration graduates in an all-round way. The works of 21 graduates of digital media art covervarious artistic forms, such as installations, VR and AR, games and picture books etc, which together make a fantastic grand stage of digital media art.
Since the 1980s, Shanghai Theatre Academy has taken the lead in the teaching of culture and art administration in China. After a long period of educational practice, the art administration major has formed a complete education and teaching system of undergraduate, master and doctoral programs. In 2017, Shanghai Theatre Academy became one of the first two universities in China to successfully apply for the specially approvedundergraduate major of "art administration", and it was approved as a construction point of national first-class undergraduate major in 2021.
The digital media art major of Shanghai Theatre Academy relies on theatre as the platform for its development, and integrates many unique elements of Shanghai Theatre Academy such as directing, acting, dance and installations into digital media. It has established an education system of digital media art with unique characteristics of Shanghai Theatre Academy, and has participated in a number of digital media art and theatrical performance activities within and without the university, which has won recognition of the industry.
The exhibition on this occasion is the first exhibition of graduates' works after the College of of Creative Studies moved to the Changlin Road Campus. In the spacious new space, students have built the corridor connecting the administrative building and the teaching building into an exhibition corridor to present their art works in the new campus. The formation of the pattern of “art+ technology” and“art+administration” clearly interprets the theme of "See the Future".
