1 December 2020, which was the 75th anniversary of the founding of Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA), has just passed, and the STAers will usher in another memorable day, i.e. 4 December this year, the 120th anniversary of the birthday of Xiong Foxi, the late former president of STA.
Mr Xiong Foxi was an outstanding theatre educator in modern Chinese history, and the Shanghai Theatre Academy was the place where he spent the most brilliant part of his career in his entire life, and was also the place which he cared the most. Similarly, although Mr Xiong has been gone for 55 years, the STAers has never forgotten him.
The 75th anniversary celebration of STA began with the plaque unveiling of the Foxi Library in the morning, and ended successfully with the performance of the master play "Xiong Foxi" in the evening, and there was also the opening of the Themed Exhibition on Xiong Foxi in the afternoon. Among all activities on the anniversary celebration day, three were related to Xiong Foxi. This reflected the very high position of him in the history of STA and in the minds of teachers and students of STA.
On the occasion of the 120th anniversary of Mr Xiong Foxi's birth, STA will also commemorate this day in a special way. Today, the STA team departed for Fengcheng in Jiangxi Province, where they will hold a series of activities in conjunction with the local government to commemorate Mr Xiong, the theatre master, together with the people of his hometown.
