On the afternoon of 27 November, the psychological lecture on theme of "insomnia" was successfully held in the multifunctional hall on the first floor of the Huashan Road Campus Library. Nearly 50 students attended the lecture. The speaker was Wang Yong, chief doctor and deputy director of the Outpatient Department of Shanghai Mental Health Center, who is also a supervisor of master’s degree students of clinical psychology at the Shanghai Jiaotong University. He has rich clinical experience and deep academic research on insomnia and emotional problems.
First of all, Dr Wang Yong introduced the importance of sleep and the close relationship between sleep disorders and depression and anxiety as well as their harms.
Then, Dr Wang talked about the possible causes of insomnia from various aspects, and used the 3P model to help the participants to see how insomnia happens from the time axis and the role played by these causes.
The participants learned more professional knowledge about insomnia from the lecture and were taught some methods to deal with insomnia. In particular, some of the fine and specific tips from Dr Wang were particularly useful in daily life. Of course, if insomnia is very serious, one still need to see a doctor in time.
