On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Pudong development and opening-up, the “Standing on the Tide Bravely – Evening Gala in Celebration of the 30th Anniversary of Pudong Development and Opening-up” was held in the Shanghai Grand Theatre on 13 November. The evening gala was sponsored by the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, the Shanghai Municipal People's Government and the Central Radio and Television station, hosted by the CPC Pudong New District Committee, the Pudong New District People's Government, the Publicity Department of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee and the Publicity Department of the CPC Pudong New District Committee, and undertaken by the Shanghai Radio and Television Station.
On 28 October, the Dance College of Shanghai Theatre Academy received the invitation from the Shanghai Radio and Television Station to perform at the evening gala. The leadership of the college attached great importance to it and provided the full support. Dong Jie, a teacher of the Dance College, and Liu He, an actor of the Youth Dance Troupe, were tasked to lead the dance team comprising 60 students.
The teachers and students of the Dance College meticulously rehearsed a dance performance that demonstrates the red culture and Shanghai style culture, and highlights Pudong’s spirit and cultural essence of openness, inclusiveness and diversity. They used the dance to depict the 30-year legendary journey of Pudong, interpret this grand celebration with the significance of the times, and pay tribute to the 30th anniversary of Pudong development and opening-up.
For the students, performing at this evening gala was not only a social practice, but also a vivid ideological and political education class. The teachers and students of the Dance College will continue to remember the original aspiration and keep the mission firmly in mind. They will give full play to their professional skills, carry out social services and fulfill social responsibilities, and will actively promote the spread of dance art in practice and strive to contribute to the cultural prosperity of the country.
