On 12 November 2020, the meeting to re-elect the second-tier branches of the Shanghai Theatre Academy Committee of the China Democratic League was successfully held in the Foxi Building of Shanghai Theatre Academy. The meeting was presided over by Huang Yiming, vice chairman of the Shanghai Theatre Academy Committee of the China Democratic League, and Li Zhenlin, chairman of the Shanghai Theatre Academy Committee of the China Democratic League, made the re-election mobilization. Zhu Ying from the Organization Department of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the Democratic League attended the meeting.
In accordance with the principles of justice, fairness and openness, the meeting re-elected by secret ballot the committees of the first branch (Huashan Road campus), the second branch (Changlin Road campus, Lianhua Road campus, Hongqiao Road campus) and the third branch (retired members) of the Shanghai Theatre Academy Committee of the China Democratic League. At the first meeting of the branch committees held subsequently, Li Zhenlin put forward requirements and expectations for the newly elected members of the branch committees.
The re-election was followed by the "four histories" learning activities. Tao Kan, deputy director of the Shanghai Tao Xingzhi Memorial Museum, gave a wonderful presentation entitled “Tao Xingzhi's Road to Success”. Tao Kan is the great grandson of Tao Xingzhi. He told many stories about Tao Xingzhi, one of the founders of the China Democratic League, which was rarely known to people but very inspiring. The members of the China Democratic League present at the meeting were particularly moved and deeply educated. In 1952, the drama group of the art department of the Shanghai Xingzhi Normal School was merged into Shanghai Theatre Academy. The Shanghai Theatre Academy enjoys a historical linkage with Tao Xingzhi. Tao Kan expressed the hope to carry forward the spirit of Tao Xingzhi and build the Tao Xingzhi culture together with the Shanghai Theatre Academy.
