The First Advanced Seminar for Movie Writers in Yangtze River Delta (2020) Opens

On 24 October, the opening ceremony of the first Advanced Seminar for Movie Writers in Yangtze River Delta, jointly sponsored by the Yangtze River Delta Film Development Alliance, the Film and Television College and the Graduate School of Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA), was held in STA. Tang Litu, Vice President of STA, and relevant leaders from the China Film Association, the Shanghai Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the Shanghai Film Association attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.

Other leaders and senior representatives from the Shanghai Federation of Literary and Art Circles, the Jiangsu Film Association, the Nanjing Film Studio, the Zhejiang Film Association, the Anhui Film and Television Artists Association, the Anhui Meihaoshidai Media Co Ltd and the Shanghai Theatre Academy also attended the opening ceremony, including Li Zhenlin, Dean of the Film and Television College and Dean of the Graduate School of STA, also attended the opening ceremony.

At the opening ceremony, representatives of instructors and students spoke respectively, expressing their full recognition and sincere expectation for this seminar. The leaders present at the opening ceremony issued the certificates of honor to the judges, speakers and instructors for this advanced seminar, and expressed their gratitude for their active efforts in exploring and cultivating film creation talents.

In the first half of this year, the film associations in Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui in the Yangtze River Delta region, together with the Film and Television College and the Graduate School of STA, jointly released the notice and specific plan for the "The First Advanced Seminar for Movie Writers in the Yangtze River Delta (2020) and Call for Submission of Outstanding Movie Script Outlines". After the notice was released, it received extensive attention from the society and the active participation of professional screenwriters. By the end of June, more than 160 script outlines had been received. After the evaluation by the expert judges, a total of 46 screenwriters were selected as the students of the first Advanced Seminar for Movie Writers in Yangtze River Delta.

In the week-long seminar, Jan Schutte, Former President of the American Film Institute, Ren Zhonglun, Chairman of the Shanghai Film Association, and Professor Huang Dan, Dean of the Literature Department of Beijing Film Academy, in their capacity as the speakers of the Masters Forum, will give lectures to the students. In the Instructors Workshop to be conducted in a “small class” mode, directors Liang Shan and Li Ruijun and screenwriters Zhang Qi, Feng Hua, Yuan Yuan Yuan and Pan Yu will provide the students with in-depth guidance on their script outlines. The sponsors will also arrange activities for the students, such as research and study visits, film observation and so on.
