CaoLin, male. He studied at The Central Academy of Arts and Crafts (nowAcademy of Fine Arts, Tsinghua University) and the Chinese Academy ofArts, received master’s and doctor’s degree. He is now aprofessor of Shanghai Theatre Academy; host of Cao Lin contemporaryInternational Performance Design Art Studio. He is also the chiefexpert of the National Social Science Fund’s major art projectResearch on the Development of New China’s Stage Art. He is thepresident of China Stage Art Association, the secretary general ofOISTAT China Center of International Stage Art Organization, and thedirector of Beijing Dramatists Association.

Hehas engaged in education, research and creation for a long time,specializing in drama, film and television, art theory, art anddesign, etc. Since 2010, he has presided over more than 10 scientificresearch projects of provincial and ministerial level, for exampleart major projects of National Social Science Fund, high-levelcultural and artistic talents program of Shanghai Universities, etc.He has published many books of theory: Reform and Practice ofDrama Education; Research on the Theory of Chinese stage Artin the New Century, etc. He has also conducted dozens of academicexchanges: China Stage Art Exhibition; International Stage ArtMasters Forum; Longli International New Media Art Festival; ChineseAvant-grade Theatre Young Designers Nomination Exhibition. He hasalso designed such stage art as kunqu opera Rong Bao Zhai, anddrama Sand Change Record.
