Mr CAI Yilei received his early ballet training from the National School inShanghai. He later moved to London in 1988 to join the Royal BalletSchool. While under the tutelage of this esteemed school, MrCai wasthe finalist of the Varna International Ballet Competition, awardedBronze Medal at the Chinese National Ballet Competition. One yearlater, MrCai earned the Gold Medal at the Prix de Lausanne.
In1990, Mr Cai joined the Sadler's Wells Royal Ballet, and in 1991 was promoted to Soloist of Birmingham Royal Ballet. During his ten years with the Company, MrCai has accumulated an expansive performance repertoire, including, several television appearances for the Royal Ballet at Covent Garden in production such as: Coppelia, TheNutcracker, Le Corsaire& Don Quixote.
In1998, MrCai accepted a Principal Contract with Scottish Ballet. Afte rthree years in Scotland, he returned to his hometown in Shanghai, andjoined the Shanghai Ballet as a guest Principal dancer.
Mr Cai has performed and taught all over the world including: Japan, China,Hong Kong, UK, Canada, Spain, Germany, USA, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. In 2012, he has been invited as a Jury Panel of American Dance Competition in 2012, 2013 and 2014.
Mr Cai is now Professor of Shanghai Visual Arts College, Shanghai Teacher University and Shanghai Dance College
