Yu Yi, recipient of the national honorary title of "People's Educator", is a national-level model teacher. The original drama "The Path to Being A Teacher" (tentative name) based on this highly accomplished teacher will be staged by Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA) next year.
On 22 September, the seminar on the script of this play was held in STA. Li Xin, deputy secretary of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee for Education and Health Work and deputy director-general of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, Xie Wei, secretary of the CPC STA Committee, Hu Min, deputy secretary of the CPC STA Committee, Yang Yang, vice president of STA, Jiang Hongbo, deputy director of the Publicity Division of CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee for Education and Health Work, as well as heads of the Publicity Department of CPC STA Committee, and heads of the Creation Center and the Student Affairs Office of STA, attended the seminar.
Mao Shi'an, a famous literary critic, Tan Yibin, deputy director of the Teaching Research Office of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission and a student of Yu Yi, Ji Lin, director of the editorial department of “Shanghai Education” magazine, and Huang Yin, the granddaughter of Yu Yi and a teacher of Yangpu Institute of Education, as well as experts and scholars such as Rong Guangrun, Zhang Zhongnian, Yi Tianfu, Chen Jun, Wu Xiaojun, Li Ning, Zhou Baodi and Cao Lusheng etc, conducted in-depth discussion on the script of the play, and put forward a lot of constructive opinions and suggestions.
Guo Chenzi, an associate professor of the Theatrical Literature Department of STA, is the playwright of “The Path to Being A Teacher”, which is one of the major creation projects of STA this year. Year 2021 marks not only the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC), but also the 70th anniversary of Yu Yi's teaching career. Therefore, putting this play on the stage will be of special significance.
