From 14 to 17 September 142020, the “Playwriting Workshop” event of Meng Bing’s Theatrical Creation Studio under the Culture-Education Integration Studios Program 2020 of Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA) was successfully carried out in STA.
Due to the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak, this was the first off-line intensive class of the workshop this year, which lasted for four days. The "Playwright Workshop" was still the most important part of this ongoing program. Meng Bing, vice chairman of the China Theatre Association, national first-class playwright, playwright of drama "White Deer Plain" and drama "Ordinary World" and other works, and part-time professor of STA, was the lecturer for the workshop. All the students were selected from the current undergraduate or postgraduate students of the Department of Theatrical Literature. Next, a series of teaching activities of the workshop will be carried out successively in stages in the form of "enlarged class on theories + small tutorial class on script creation".
Through the study in this playwriting workshop, the students came to know that the road ahead of them is long and full of obstacles, and that they are fortunate to have the guidance from teachers of STA and such industry experts as Meng Bing, who are doing their uttermost to lead the direction for students, so that they can understand that as long as they study tirelessly, practice diligently and live down to earth, they will definitely be able to create excellent literary works!
