To promote the learning and education of "four histories" with drama works, to extract creative materials and draw spiritual nourishment from "four histories" has become a unique and wonderful self-developed initiative of the party branch of the Theatrical Literature Department of Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA) to carry out the learning and education of "four histories".
In the recent "four histories" learning and education, the party branch of the Theatrical Literature Department gave full play to its major-specific features and launched the Party Day event on the theme of "Heart Follows Belief & Drama Promotes “Four Histories", which included learning and promoting the “four histories” with drama as the vehicle, learning the spirit of the important reply letters of General Secretary Xin Jinpinag, and highlighting the original aspiration, mission, ideal and belief of all members of the Theatrical Literature Department. Zhang Yuqing, head of the discipline inspection and supervision group assigned by the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee’s Discipline Inspection and Supervision Commission to the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee for Education and Health Work, came especially to the Shanghai Theatre Academy to participate in the Party Day event of the party branch of Theatrical Literature Department. Yu Hongsheng, director of the Teaching and Research Department for Politics and Public Administration of China Executive Leadership Academy Pudong, member of the Shanghai "Four Histories" Education Lecturers Team, Hu Min, deputy party secretary of STA, and Tang Litu, vice president of STA, were invited to attend.
In 2020 which is destined to be an extraordinary year, General Secretary Xi Jinping has written five reply letters to university teachers and students, expressing his ardent expectation for the young generation to adhere to their ideal and belief, and his great trust to higher education institutions for the implementation of the basic task of establishing moral values and cultivating talents.
Under the guidance of Zhang Jing, party branch secretary of the Theatrical Literature Department, the party members focused on learning two of the five recent reply letters from General Secretary Xi Jinping to relevant universities, that is, "General Secretary Xi Jinping’s reply letter to all the members of the volunteer service team of the Exhibition Museum of the Communist Manifesto of Fudan University" and "General Secretary Xi Jinping’s reply letter to the graduates of China University of Petroleum (Beijing) Karamay Campus ".
The themes of the two plays “Chen Wangdao” and “Romantic Village” created by Professor Huang Xi and Professor Lu Jun of the Theatrical Literature Department respectively echo the spirit of the two reply letters from General Secretary Xi Jinping. The party branch guided the party members to study and discuss the rich connotation embodied in these two plays through in-depth study of the spirit of the General Secretary's reply letters.
After watching the selected parts of the two plays, and with reference to the scripts of the scripts, the party members exchanged their learning experience focusing on the spirit of the General Secretary's reply letters. Professor Lu Jun, recipient of the Outstanding CPC Member title within the system of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee for Education and Health Work, and Professor Xu Yu, member of the party branch and deputy dean of the Theatrical Literature Department, respectively elaborated on the ideas guiding the creation of the two plays. On behalf of the party branch, Professor Chen Jun, party branch deputy secretary and dean of the Theatrical Literature Department, issued a party branch proposal entitled "Heart Follows Belief & Drama Promotes Four Histories” to all the party members of the party branch.
Hu Min, deputy party secretary of STA, made a review of the history of STA and shared her insights in the context of the recent compilation of STA Chronicles. Zhang Yuqing, head of the discipline inspection and supervision group assigned by the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee to the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee for Education and Health Work, commented on and provided guidance for this Party Day event.
