Recently, the results of the Shanghai division of the second "Reciting China" classic recitation competition held by the general office of the Ministry of Education were announced. The original work "Salute, Pioneers Who Put Themselves in Harm’s Way" from the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA) won the first prize of the teachers group at the municipal level.
With the purpose of interpreting the connotation of Chinese excellent traditional culture and highlighting the charm of Chinese language and culture, the competition aimed to guide the public, especially the young people, to get close to Chinese classics, improve the ability of language application, cultivate the spirit of patriotism, and provide spiritual impetus for the Chinese dream of realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. The recitation competition was divided into six groups, i.e. primary school students, middle school students, college students, international students, teachers and other personnel from the society.
The recitation work "Salute, Pioneers Who Put Themselves in Harm’s Way" was planned by Chen Yun, director of the Organization Department of STA; created by Fang Jun, deputy director of the Publicity Department of STA; directed by Xie Di from the STA Performing Arts Center; recited by four teachers, namely, Yang Ming, Dong Jian, Zhang Dapeng and Wang Qi. The students from the Middle School attached to STA performed the group recitation. It is another excellent work in STAers’ efforts to fight COVID-19 with art.
The work tells the touching deeds of Zhong Ming, Huang Feng, Ren Hong, Gu Haiyan and other typical figures during the anti-COVID-19 period in a highly concise way, and warmly praises the medical staff of the Shanghai Medical Team for Hubei Aid who have made outstanding contributions to win the battle of COVID-19 prevention and control. Through the recitation by the four teachers, these true stories fully demonstrate the charm of Chinese language and culture, and make people shocked and moved. Since May this year, the work has appeared in many important performances. On 1 July, this work was also selected for the ceremony of reviewing the oath of joining the party held at the Memorial Museum of the First National Congress of the Communist Party of China.
It is reported that in September, "Salute, Pioneers Who Put Themselves in Harm’s Way" will also participate in the national "Reciting China" classic recitation competition representing Shanghai.
