On the morning of 24 July, the Shanghai Middle School Students Online Drama Summer Camp 2020, which was attended by middle school students from nearly 20 schools in the city, was closed successfully in the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA). Xu Yong, director of the Party Committee’s Office and the President’s Office and director of the Publicity Department, STA and Zhang Shengquan, the instructor of the summer camp, and other relevant personnel attended the closing ceremony of the summer camp. On behalf of the organizer, they congratulated the students for completing their studies.
At the beginning of the summer vacation this year, in order to enrich the life of primary and secondary school students during the summer vacation, the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission requested that art universities and colleges, especially those ones appointed as art education bases, provide high-quality online art education activities for the students. After consideration, STA decided that the summer camp should be jointly organized by the Shanghai Campus Drama Education and Application Center and STA’s Publicity Department and Youth League Committee. This activity adopted the mode of recommendation by schools, online teaching, online teaching and teacher-student interaction. Under the premise of ensuring the health and safety of teachers and students, the summer camp invited many senior professors as well as current graduate students and undergraduate students to conduct teaching and training.
During the five-day study period, senior teachers gave large-class teaching in the morning, and graduate student and undergraduate student volunteers gave small-class teaching in the afternoon. The course mainly consisted of two parts, i.e. playwriting and directing. After one week of intensive study, the students generally reflected that they had gained a lot. In this summer camp, although the teachers and students were separated by the screen, the friendship between them was not blocked, and the enthusiasm of the students to study consciously was not stopped. We hope that the students having attended the summer camp will improve faster.
Let drama education go into middle schools and life of teenagers. Let more students experience and create colorful life of art in the learning and appreciation of drama.
