The International Nurse Day 2020 is so extraordinary for the Chinese people who have experienced the resistance war of COVID-19 prevention and control.
On the occasion of the International Nurse Day, the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA) presented the anti-COVID19 radio play Nurse’s Diary to the medical staff who put themselves in harm’s way in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, paying tribute to their selfless dedication.
The radio play Nurse’s Diary, co-produced by STA and the Publicity Department of CPC Songjiang District Committee, was adapted from Shanghai’s first large-scale anti-COVID19 drama of the same name. It was written by Professor Lu Jun and his student Yuan Xianghe, and directed by Professor Yi Tianfu. The performers included many excellent teachers, students and alumni of STA such as Liu Wanling, Shen Taoran, Xue Guanglei, He Yan, Wang Xueming, Wan Liming, Wang Su, Li Chuanying and Li Bing, etc. It was a radio broadcasting art work of high quality and profound significance.
The story of “Nurse’s Diary” starts from the diary of Dong Fang, a nurse, which was discovered inadvertently by Dong Lili, her daughter. With a retrospective art structure, through the process of the daughter Dong Lili and Dr Lin exploring the source of infection, it shows all aspects of the society, which makes the rebellious daughtertruly understand her mother and the duty of medical staff, and finally completes her own growth.
The radio play“Nurse's Diary” reflects that respect for human life should be the consensus of all people through the most vivid depiction of medical staff and all people around them. This work focuses on the destiny and inner world of human beings and reflects the pulse of the times and society. The recording and production of the radio play “Nurse's Diary” embodies the efforts of all people involved. It was this synergy that had made it possible for the radio play“Nurse Diary” to be launched successfully on the International Nurse Day as a tribute to the medical staff at the front line of fighting COVID-19 pandemic and everyone growing up in the face of the pandemic.
