30 April 2020
In the afternoon of 29 April 2020, STA President Huang Changyong, STA Vice President Liu Qing, heads of Academic Affairs Office, Planning Office and Human Resources Office, together with all staff of the Performing Arts Center and the STA Experimental Theatre, held a conference on the management system reform of the Performing Arts Center. With the direct concern and promotion of the STA leaders, the Performing Arts Center will move towards a first-class new model of digital and information technology-based art management.
The meeting was presided over by Vice President Liu Qing, who gave a background introduction to the reform of the management system of the performance center, and said that the reform is of far-reaching significance and the first step should be taken solidly.
Yi Tianfu, Director of the Performing Arts Centre, made a detailed introduction to the reform of the management system of the Performing Arts Center, which is mainly reflected in three aspects: the return of teaching in the Experimental Theatre, the re-establishment of the organizational structure of the Performing Arts Center, and the clearly defined duties and responsibilities of each post. It is hoped that the future Performing Arts Center would not only be a functional department, but also a facilitator for teaching, a participant in creation and performance, a performance manager and a technical supporter. The Performing Arts Center will provide a complete support in these four aspects. The theater of the university exits not only for performance, but also for teaching. It is not only open for performance, but also open to students in daily teaching. Opening the door of the Experimental Theater will open a new chapter of space theatre education. The Performing Arts Centre should shoulder the responsibility in the pursuit of creating the theatre cultural atmosphere of STA’s Huashan Road Campus.
Shen Liang, Director of the Academic Affairs Office and Wu Aili, Director of the Planning Office, both spoke at the meeting and expressed full recognition and expectations for the management system reform of the Performing Arts Center.
Finally, President Huang Changyong made a wrap-up speech. The STA Experimental Theatre will change from market-oriented management to teaching-oriented management, and return to teaching as a teaching resource, and return to the needs of talent cultivation. Therefore, a well established organizational structure of the Performing Arts Center is the foundation that enables the Performing Arts Centre to serve STA’s overall goal of talent cultivation with a high starting point, high standard, high efficiency and high quality. STA will have enough confidence to actively realize the new model of theater management in modern specialized universities, build an art management team with a sense of honor and artistic pursuit, and make the Experimental Theater the spiritual palace of all STAers.
