Chen Qun, Vice Mayor of Shanghai, and his party make an investigation visit to Shanghai Theatre Academy

On 28 April, Chen Qun, Vice Mayor of Shanghai, and his party came to the Changlin Road Campus of Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA) for investigation. Yu Lijuan, Deputy Secretary-General of the Shanghai Municipal Government, and Lu Jing, Director-General of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, participated in the investigation visit.

Chen Qun and his party first had a guided tour of the Changlin Road Campus, and fully acknowledged the construction results of the new campus. Then, they attended a discussion session in the Circular Conference Room in the North Wing of Building 1.

Xie Wei, Party Secretary of STA, and Huang Changyong, Deputy Party Secretary and President of STA, reported on STA’s recent work arrangement under the circumstances of COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control, STA’s preparation for the fifth round of discipline evaluation by the Ministry of Education, and the planning ideas of building four centers based on STA’s four campuses during the 14th Five Year Plan period.

Chen Qun pointed out during the investigation that STA is a very influential art university, which has made an important contribution to the development of Shanghai's cultural undertakings and the construction of an international cultural metropolis. He said that he is very pleased to see that the construction of the new Changlin Road Campus is very successful, no matter in terms of building quality or architectural style, which creates an important opportunity for the development of STA, and reflects the importance attached by the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee and the Shanghai Municipal Government to STA. It is hoped that STA will further perform the role and function of the new campus to create a strong driving force for promoting the development of the school, and set more ambitious goals.

During the investigation, Chen Qun and his party gave full recognition to the measures adopted by STA for the prevention and control of COVID-19 epidemic, and put forward guiding opinions on STA’s participation in the discipline evaluation, as well as on culture-education integration, development of multi-campus operation, and promotion of vocational high school-undergraduate articulation.

Other STA leaders including Hu Min, Deputy Party Secretary, Zhou Yin’e Deputy Secretary and Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission, Zhang Weiling, Deputy Party Secretary and Vice President, Tang Litu, Vice President, Yang Yang, Vice President, Liu Qing, Vice President, and Zhang Jiachun, Chief Accountant, as well as heads of some functional departments of STA, attended the discussion session.
