Recently, the anti-epidemic radio drama Target: Wuhan, created by the faculty team of the College of Film and Television of Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA), landed in Himalayas FM, the largest online radio platform in China, on 14 April.

The radio drama “Target: Wuhan” is based on the real stories of many fearless people who have put themselves in harm’s way and showed the greatest love of humanity in the face of COVID-19 infections to help the others. The drama tells the touching stories of how people from all walks of life have united as one and made concerted efforts in the battle against the COVID-19 epidemic through the conflicts between medical workers represented by Qin Jiajia and ordinary people represented by Qin’s father facing the epidemic situation.

The whole process from the finalization of script through to the completion of production for this nearly 60-minute long radio drama only took 2 weeks effectively. The creation of this radio drama, including playwriting, acting and recording, attributes to the devoted efforts of the STA College of Film and Television as a whole, with all teachers of the broadcasting and hosting major participating in the recording and each giving full play to their expertise. The fact that the creative team could complete this radio drama in such a short time is the result of the great attention paid by the Party and administrative leaders of STA. During the epidemic period, STA have created more than 200 works, including poetry recitation, songs, paintings, music videos and stage plays etc, in line with the purpose of art serving the people, paying homage to the heroes who are fighting in the front line of epidemic prevention and control and conveying positive energy to the society in various artistic forms such as works, voice, painting and dance etc.

At the same time, this kind of cooperation between university and new media platform has also provided new ideas and directions for art education and art exploration. Himalayas FM has long been committed to working with partners to provide more quality content and voice. The establishment of the special anti-epidemic topic and the cooperation with the STA College of Film and Television this time will provide the public with the opportunity to enjoy art while the battle against the COVID-19 epidemic is continuing.
