The spring semester of 2019-2020 Academic Year has commenced in the special way of online teaching. Integrating the current battle of coronavirus epidemic prevention and control into the major-specific teaching and guiding students to show reverence for life and confidence in victory through assignments and other ways has been a major feature since the College of Creative Studies of Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA) began online teaching in early March.
As early as the battle of coronavirus epidemic prevention and control started in China, the teachers and students of the STA College of Creative Studies, in response to the call of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission and STA, actively gave full play to their major-related expertise, and created a number of posters and cartoon works. Apart from being used in the “Coronavirus Epidemic Prevention and Control Manual of STA” produced by the Student Affairs Office of STA, some of the works created by the teachers and students of the STA College of Creative Studies were also selected by the Pujin Community Office of Minhang District Pujin where STA’s Changlin Road Campus is located, and were featured in its official Wechat account under the special title “STA Teachers and Students Talk about Battle against Coronavirus Epidemic with Images, and Cheer for Wuhan”. .
After the online teaching was fully launched, the Party branch of STA College of Creative Studies mobilized the teachers to take major-specific teaching as the carrier, further integrate and deepen the theme of fighting against coronavirus epidemic in the online courses, and make its means of expression more diverse and its connotation more meaningful. This initiative has been implemented in such courses as Experimental Animation Creation, 3D Animation Design, Animation Derivatives Design, Digital Media Principles, Basics of Stage Technology and Illustration Design, as well as AI technology and painting related courses.
