On the afternoon of 27 December 2019, the 2019 Annual Working Conference of Shanghai Art Degree Postgraduate Education Steering Committee was held in the New Experimental Space Theatre of Shanghai Theatre Academy and achieved a complete success. More than 100 representatives from the National Art Degree Postgraduate Education Steering Committee, Shanghai Academic Degree Office and 13 Shanghai-based institutions that offer postgraduate art degrees attended the meeting. Leaders and guests of honor from various institutions and leaders from the Master of Fine Arts (MFA) programs in many fields such as fine arts and art design gathered in the Shanghai Theatre Academy to discuss the training standards for postgraduate education of art majors, and promote the positive development of postgraduate education of art majors. The conference was sponsored by the Shanghai Art Degree Postgraduate Education Steering Committee, organized by the Shanghai Theatre Academy and co-organized by 12 Shanghai-based institutions that offer postgraduate art degrees (i.e. Fudan University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Tongji University, East China University of Science and Technology, Donghua University, University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, Shanghai Normal University, Shanghai Conservatory of Music, East China Normal University, Shanghai University of Engineering Science, Shanghai Institute of Technology).
The conference was chaired by Professor Feng Xinqun, Secretary-General of the Shanghai Art Degree Postgraduate Education Steering Committee and Deputy Dean of the School of Fashion and Art Design of Donghua University. The main agenda of the conference included: speeches by Professor Huang Changyong, President of the Shanghai Theatre Academy, Professor Ding Fan, Secretary-General of the National Art Degree Postgraduate Education Steering Committee, Professor Liu Xiaogang, Chairman of the Shanghai Art Degree Postgraduate Education Steering Committee, and Mr Shu Jinlong, Director of the Shanghai Academic Degree Office; release of the “Report on the Quality of Art Degree Postgraduate Education in Shanghai (2018-2019)” by Associate Professor Liu Xiaodong, representative of the Secretariat of Shanghai Art Degree Postgraduate Education Steering Committee; new book release ceremony for the “Collection of Excellent Works by Postgraduate Art Degree Students (Fine Arts and Art Design) in Shanghai and the award ceremony for award-winning works by MFA students; speeches by conveners of the various areas of the Shanghai Art Degree Postgraduate Education Steering Committee and work-related exchanges and discussions by various institutions that offer postgraduate art degrees.
