The second round performance of the small theatre Yueju Opera Li Mingtang officially came to an end. As the outcome of the 2019 Shanghai First-class Postgraduate Education Leading Program, a participating program of the Shanghai Theatre Academy Wisteria Blossom Postgraduate Students Performance Season and a project of the Shanghai Cultural Development Foundation Young Playwrights Funding Support Program, the small theater Yueju Opera Li Mingtang was staged in the North Station Theater, Jing’an District on 9-10 November, with three consecutive performances. The production team of the play was mainly composed of the postgraduate students of the Shanghai Theatre Academy, and some good actors were invited from the Shanghai Qisheng Yueju Opera Troupe and the North Station Yuyin Kunqu Opera Club to perform together.

The small theatre Yueju Opera “Li Mingtang” is a play written and directed by Xin Lingyan, a postgraduate student of the Shanghai Theatre Academy majoring in Chinese opera directing. In the first round of creation and rehearsal, the main creation team cooperated with the professional actors from the Shanghai Yueju Opera Theatre and the singing and composing teachers to put the play on the stage. This time, they made further improvements and cooperated with non-professional Chinese opera actors to re-produce this play. Through the redoubled efforts of the creation team and actors, the play has been recognized and liked by many ordinary audiences on the stage off-campus, which has been a very rare and valuable experience of creation.
