On the morning of 23 October, organized by the Retired Teachers Association and the Retired Personnel Affairs Division of the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA), some directors and members of the STA Retired Teachers Association visited the STA Changlin Road Campus. The Changlin Road Campus was officially commissioned on 1 September this year, and the teachers and students of the College of Film and Television and the College of Creative Studies were the first to move in.
The old comrades visited the classrooms for coursework and practical training, International Conference Center, terrace classroom, teaching building corridors, trade union, gymnasium, fitness centre, canteen and other facilities with great interest. In the International Conference Center, the old comrades watched the video clips of the whole planning and construction process of the Changlin Road Campus, and listened to the introduction of the facilities and equipment of the new campus and the current operation and use of them. Then, the old comrades tried the lunch in the spacious and bright canteen of the Changlin Road Campus.
Through the visit, the old comrades had a detailed understanding of the “Four Centres” planning layout of STA. Now that the Changlin Road Campus has been put into use, STA has more clearly defined the new spatial layout and overall planning for development. The old comrades felt very happy and proud, and wished STA a continuous and more prosperous development.
In the afternoon of the same day, some members of the Retired Association and some retired faculty and staff members of STA, totaling more than 30 people, came to the auditorium of the Tongji University to watch the large-scale art performance “My motherland and I in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. Mr Wang Lijun, director of the STA Retired Teachers Association and former deputy dean of the STA College of Chinese Traditional Opera, participated in the performance and sang a number of selected sections of Peking Opera, showing the elegant demeanor of retired professors of STA.
