Pilot program of "Vocational High School-Undergraduate Articulation" training mode for dance performance (Chinese Dance) major receives follow-up inspection of the municipal evaluation authority

On the morning of 17 October 2019, an expert group organized by the municipal evaluation authority visited the College of Dance of Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA) and the dance school affiliated to STA to conduct a follow-up inspection and provide guidance on the “vocational high school-undergraduate articulation” program for the dance performance (Chinese dance) major. With the strong support of the municipal education commission, the application for approval of the pilot program of the “vocational high school-undergraduate articulation” training mode for the dance performance (Chinese dance) major started in September 2017 with the preparation for a joint application, the approval was granted in April 2018, while the recruitment was conducted in July, and the first batch of students was enrolled in September of the same year.

The leaders of STA and the leaders of STA College of Dance and relevant functional departments of STA attached great importance to the implementation of the “vocational high school-undergraduate articulation” pilot training mode, as well as to the preparation for this follow-up inspection. This inspection was composed of three parts, i.e. report session and documents checking, inspection of practical training facilities and teaching results, interview and random class observation. Liu Qing, Vice President of STA, Guo Chenyan, Deputy Director of Academic Affairs Office, and the leaders of the STA College of Dance and the Dance School affiliated to STA attended the report session.

  

In this follow-up inspection, the pilot operation of the vocational high school-undergraduate articulation training mode for dance performance (Chinese dance) major received favorable feedback and recognition from the expert group of the municipal evaluation authority, agreeing unanimously that the talent training scheme design of the project is reasonable and complete, and that the coordination mechanism is generally well-implemented. The expert group pointed out that as the first innovative approach in the field of dance higher education, the program has a bright future, and is of great significance to promote the reform of dance education in Shanghai and even the whole country. It hoped that the two schools will continue to optimize and strengthen the program in the process of implementation so as to make it a model for dance education.

This inspection not only provided an opportunity for the two schools to induce and sum up the overall implementation of the program since its launch, but also urged the working committee to look into the future and thinking about the future promotion and management of the program.
