On the afternoon of 23 September 2019, Huang Changyong, President of Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA), and other relevant persons-in-charge from the research office, academic affairs office and personnel office, went to Beijing to carry out special research on the STA Development Research Center of Chinese Theatres.
At the meeting, Chen Ping, the founding president of the National Centre for the Performing Arts, chairman of the Beijing Federation of Literary and Artistic Circles and director of the Development Research Center of Chinese Theatres, provided an update on the research centre.
The research center, jointly established by the Shanghai Theatre Academy and the National Centre for the Performing Arts in June 2018, is an academic research institute set up within STA, and is the first public welfare high-end think tank specialized in the research of theatres and performing arts troupes in China. In October 2018, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism listed the Development Research Center of Chinese Theatres as the "Research Base of Culture and Tourism Reform and Development".
