Sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China, the “Taoli Cup" Education and Teaching Achievement Showcase is the showcase platform at the highest level for professional dance education and teaching achievements of platform art colleges and universities in China, which is known as the Oscar of China’s dancing circle. From 12 to 17 August 2019, the 12th National "Taoli Cup" Education and Teaching Achievement Showcase was held in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province.
The College of Dance of the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA) selected 14 top students and a group dance work to participate in this event. There were 11 works signed up for this showcase event from four professional directions of the STA College of Dance, including 10 solo dances and one group dance, and all of the selected works successfully entered the finals.
The STA College of Dance not only regarded the "Taoli Cup" as a platform for displaying teaching achievements, but also as an opportunity for learning and exchange. The College of Dance organized its teachers to go to the "Taoli Cup" to observe performances and top quality courses, explore the advantages of other institutions through the observation activities, learn from the strong points of the others to make up for our own weak points, and promote the improvement and progress of teaching.
The week-long "Taoli Cup" showcase performances ended on 17 August, but the STA College of Dance will keep on exploring in the cause of dance education. On 5 September, chaired by Zhou Bei, vice dean of the College of Dance, the teachers held the "Taoli Cup" wrap-up meeting.
