31 August 2019 was the registration day for new students at the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA). In order to let the parents of freshmen have a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of the school’s education and teaching situation, smooth the channels of family-school cooperation and co-management, better cultivate students for their personal and academic development, and answer the questions of concern that parents had about the school, STA held the parents meeting of Class of 2019 new students at the Duanjun Theater at 3 pm on the same day. Huang Changyong, Deputy Party Secretary and President of STA, Zhang Weiling, Deputy Party Secretary and Vice President of STA, and Shen Liang, Director of the Academic Affairs Office, attended the meeting, which was chaired by Li Dongmei, Deputy Director of the Student Affairs Department.
President of STA Huang Changyong first welcomed the parents on behalf of the STA party and administrative leaderships and all the faculty members, and sincerely thanked the parents for trusting STA. He briefed the parents on the development course and further plans of STA, especially, the realization of the “four centre” campus structure and function positioning with the Pujiang Campus having been commissioned. Zhang Weiling, Deputy Party Secretary and Vice president of STA, introduced the student management and operation of the new Pujiang Campus to the parents. Shen Liang, Dean of the Academic Affairs Office, introduced STA’s teaching management in terms of curriculum system, curriculum learning module, classical reading module, student status management system, international exchange, innovation and entrepreneurship, focusing particularly on STA’s characteristic small class teaching, curriculum composition and classification, professional learning, overseas study tours and exchanges.
For the first time, this parents meeting was broadcasted live in four campuses. The round table meeting room of the Pujiang Campus, the first floor lecture hall of the Lianhua Road Campus Library and the first floor lecture hall of the Hongqiao Road Campus were connected online to watch the live broadcast from the Duanjun Theater. After the meeting, the various departments would continue to hold the new students and parents meetings at the department/college level so as to further strengthen the family-school relationship, build a bridge of communication between parents and departments/colleges, and jointly do a good job in cultivating the students for their personal and academic development.
