In order to strengthen and further promote the cultural strategic cooperation between Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA) and Xinyang Municipality in Henan Province, and facilitate closer cultural exchanges and interaction between the two sides, the Teachers Work Department and Students Work Department of the CPC Shanghai Theatre Academy Committee and the Youth League Shanghai Theatre Academy Committee organized 20 teacher and student representatives from the Chinese Dance major of the College of Dance and the Music Performance major of the College of Continuing Education to go to Xinyang of Henan Province to carry out the five-day 2019 Shanghai Theatre Academy Social Practice Summer Tour from 20 to 24 August 2019. This was the second Xinyang tour after the “Walking Classroom” Shanghai Theatre Academy Summer Social Practice Activity in 2018, and was also the first summer social practice after the Shanghai Theatre Academy Students Summer Social Practice Base had been set up in Xinyang.
The summer social practice activities of the Shanghai Theatre Academy in 2019 were highly valued and strongly supported by the Xinyang Municipal People's Government, Henan Province. During the five days, the teachers and students of the social practice team carried out a series of social practice activities: visiting and studying the local historical, cultural and natural heritage of Xinyang; providing volunteer cultural services for (lectures, workshops and performances) for local people and organizations; visiting the revolutionary sites and memorial museums. The summer social practice activities were lively and enjoyable ideological and political lessons and cultural lessons. Through on-site visits and learning, as well as voluntary services for the local communities, the teachers and students have had a deeper appreciation and understanding of President Xi Jinping's thought of socialism with Chinese characteristics for the new era.
