On 27 July, the closing ceremony of the 2019 “100, 1,000 and 10,000-Character Plays” Closed Summer Workshop on Playwriting for Schools in Shanghai (Advanced Class) was held in the Red Building of the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA). Ni Minjing, Deputy Director-General of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, Su Zen, Secretary-General of the Shanghai Education Association, Chen Hua, Director of the Sports, Health and Arts Division of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, Hu Min, Deputy Party Secretary of STA, Zhang Weiling, Deputy Party Secretary and Vice President of STA, Liu Qing, Vice President of STA, and Ye Changhai, Director of the Academic Committee of STA, Zhang Wenjun, Deputy Director of the Training Center of the Shanghai Federation of Literary and Artistic Circles, Zhao Yunying, Director of the Creation Center of STA, Chen Jun, Dean of the Department of Theatrical Literature of STA, attended the closing ceremony and presented the certificates of completion to the trainees.
The closing ceremony was presided over by Professor Lu Jun. Zhang Wenjun, head of teaching of the program summarized the teaching work of this workshop, and two class monitors of the program spoke on behalf of all the trainees. Deputy Director-General Ni Minjing, Deputy Party Secretary Hu Min, Deputy Party Secretary and Vice President Zhang Weiling and Secretary-General Su Zen highly praised the enthusiasm of the teaching team for their work and the enthusiasm of all the trainees for their study, and fully acknowledged the teaching outcomes that the workshop had achieved and the social benefits it had created.
Thus far, four consecutive “100, 1,000 and 10,000-Character Plays” closed summer workshops on playwriting for schools in Shanghai have been held. Professor Lu Jun, the founder of the program, has led his teaching team, by adopting a unique teaching method and proceeding through the three training stages of 100-character plays, 1,000-character plays and 10,000-character plays in an orderly and step-by-step manner, to equip the trainees with the core skills of playwriting in a gradual course and enable them to rapidly improve their script creation level in a short time through the so called devil-like training The workshop ended with a big success, and another group of theatre lovers completed their dream-seeking journey. We now look forward to the next workshop.
