In order to welcome the 70th anniversary of the founding of New China, the “70th Anniversary of the Founding of New China Excellent Film Screenplays and Typical Characters Selection and Seminar” was held at the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA) on 22 June 2019. Twenty evaluation experts from universities and cultural organizations all over the country participated in the meeting.
The meeting was co-sponsored by the China Film Literature Society, the STA College of Film and Television Academy, the Film Culture Research Center and the Lanzhou University College of Arts. Wang Xingdong, President of the China Film Literature Society and Vice Chairman of the Ninth China Film Association, and Professor Zhou Bin, Director of the Film and TV Play Committee of the China Film Literature Society, Vice President of the China Research Society for Hong Kong and Taiwanese Films and Director of the Film Art Research Center of Fudan University, attended the meeting and delivered speeches. The meeting was chaired by Professor Li Zhenlin, Vice President of the China Film Literature Society and Dean of the STA College of Film and Television.
President Wang Xingdong presented the letters of appointment for the jury members. Professor Zhou Bin, the jury chairman, reported on the main work of the jury and the selection criteria. The jury selected 117 preliminary entries from a list of nearly 340 candidate films, then conducted a second round of voting among these 117 entries, and finally selected 70 excellent films representing the excellent film screenplays and typical characters in the past 70 years as a tribute to the 70th anniversary of the founding of New China.
In September this year, the “70th Anniversary of the Foundation of New China Excellent Film Screenplays and Typical Characters Award Ceremony and Gala Night” will be held as a grand event at the Lanzhou University.
