Shanghai Theatre Academy holds Graduation Ceremony and Degree Conferment Ceremony 2019

On 21 June 2019, the Graduation Ceremony and Degree Awarding Ceremony 2019 of the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA) was held in the STA Experimental Theatre. STA leaders Xie Wei, Huang Changyong, Hu Min, Zhou Yine, Zhang Weiling, Tang Litu, Yang Yang, Liu Qing, representatives of teachers and parents, and 529 graduates attended the graduation ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by Zhang Weiling, Deputy Party Secretary and Vice president of STA. The graduation ceremony officially opened in the solemn national anthem. Zhang Jiachun, Chief Accountant of STA, read out the “Decision on Commending the Winners of Excellent Graduation Thesis of Year 2019 Graduates of Shanghai Theatre Academy”. Vice President Tang Litu read out the “Decision on the Recognition of Excellent Graduates of Shanghai Theatre Academy in 2019”. Deputy Party Secretary Hu Min read out the “Decision on Commending the Winners of Shanghai Excellent Graduates 2019 of Shanghai Theatre Academy”. The three STA leaders presented the honorary certificates of outstanding graduation theses, school-level outstanding graduates and municipal-level outstanding graduates to the award-winning students respectively.

In the speech session, the representatives of graduates, parents, alumni and teachers spoke in turn. Deputy Party Secretary and President of STA Huang Changyong delivered a speech entitled “Hello, Graduates of Year 2019” at the graduation ceremony.

The ceremony of passing on the school flag pushed the graduation ceremony to a climax. When the representatives of the graduates raised the school flag above their heads, the whole audience cheered heartily. They carefully folded the school flag neatly, and solemnly submitted it to Party Secretary Xie Wei, who then passed the school flag to the representatives of the current students. The four students who received the flag unfurled it the school flag in an instant and, at this moment, the whole audience burst into thunderous applause.

In the oath session, all graduates stood up, raised their right fists and solemnly swore to the school flag, which highlighted the graduates' inspirational and grateful feelings at the time of graduation.

During the ceremony, Vice President Yang Yang read out the “Decision of Shanghai Theatre Academy on Granting Doctoral and Master's Degrees in 2019”, and Vice President Liu Qing read out the “Decision of Shanghai Theatre Academy on Granting Bachelor's Degree to Graduates of 2019”. Subsequently, the leaders and teachers sitting on the rostrum jointly conferred degrees on the graduates. In the witness of the teachers, students and parents, the students who had obtained their degrees came to the rostrum with joy for the solemn “turn the tassel” ceremony and received their diplomas from the leaders. At the end of the graduation ceremony, teachers and students sang the graduation song and took group pictures together.
