21 June 2019
This year is the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, but also the 100th anniversary of the May 4th Movement. In response to the call of building a culturally strong country, the graduating students in 2019 are about to devote themselves to the construction of the motherland.
On the evening of 20 June, “The Day of Blossom” Shanghai Theatre Academy Graduation Party 2019 was held in the Experimental Theatre of the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA). Leaders of STA Xie Wei, Huang Changyong, Hu Min, Zhou Yin’e, Zhang Weiling, Tang Litu, Yang Yang and Zhang Jiachun, as well as leaders of the various departments, colleges and functional offices and representatives of teachers and students, attended the graduation party.
The graduation party was divided into three chapters: “Gratitude”, “Inheritance” and “Future”. The whole graduation party demonstrated the style of all graduating students through singing out the gratitude for the four years, upholding the ideals and beliefs for the future and striving to be the inheriting strivers in the new era. The graduation party began with the school song of the Shanghai Theatre Academy, which led all attendees to look back on the four years at STA.
This year's graduation party also gave out a special award, i.e. “Star of the Second Classroom”. In 2015, the credits for social and artistic practice (Second Classroom) jointly formulated by the Academic Affairs Office, the Student Affairs Office and the Youth League Committee were implemented among undergraduate students, with the view to further improving the comprehensive accomplishment of STA students and promoting the comprehensive education reform. As of 16 June 2019, a total of 318 activities were released in the Second Classroom, and the total number of registrations by students reached 32,885 person/times. Finally, Sun Fan, a student from the dance performance (ballet) major of the College of Dance, won the “Star of the Second Classroom” award with 10.7 credit points in the Second Classroom.
The most popular component in the graduation party was “Sending Gifts to Graduating Students”. This year's most anticipated “Ultimate Prize” was the evergreen tree of “art”, i.e. donating an evergreen tree in the name of a graduating student to STA’s new Pujiang Campus as a symbol of inheriting the spirit of STA and taking root in the fertile ground of art. Finally, Naige Dili, student from the choreography major of the College of Dance, won the ultimate prize. In his message to the graduating students, he said, “The Shanghai Theatre Academy will always be your home!”
