On 3 June 2019, the opening ceremony of the Xinyang Municipality Artistic Creation Research and Advanced Study Class sponsored by the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA) and organized by the STA College of Continuing Education was held in the FoxiBuilding at STA’s Huashan Road Campus. The opening ceremony was attended by Huang Changyong, President of STA, relevant leaders of the STA College of Continuing Education, and leaders of Xinyang Municipal Administration of Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism.
Looking back to July 2018, STA’s “Walking Classroom” - University Students Summer Social Practice Group, with its deep friendship for the people of the old revolutionary base areas of Xinyang, traveled thousands of miles from the bank of Huangpu River to the Dabie Mountains in the roasting summer, with firm belief, sincere feelings and strong responsibility, to carry out the education of original inspiration and sense of mission, and hold activities of interactive exchange, observation and learning together with the key members of literary and artistic endeavors at the community level, young students, local universities and cultural and artistic troupes, and formed profound friendship with them.
At the opening ceremony, Zhang Dongmei, Party Secretary of the Xinyang Municipal Administration of Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism Bureau, expressed the appreciation for this learning opportunity and the gratitude to STA, and put forward her ardent expectations to the trainees.
Professor Huang Changyong, President of STA, warmly welcomed all the trainees of the “Xinyang Municipality Artistic Creation Research and Advanced Study Class”, and introduced the long history of Shanghai and the development of STA as the hall of art. At the same time, he mentioned the indissoluble bond between Xinyang and Shanghai, and also deployed and provided the outlook of the forthcoming interactive exchanges to be carried out between STA and Xinyang on a continuous basis.
Finally, President Huang gave a detailed introduction of the courses of the research and advanced study class and outlined the highlights, and wished all the trainees a successful completion of the training.
