In the afternoon of 30 May, the second session of the teachers’ salon sponsored by the Teacher Affairs Department of the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA) was held in the multi-functional hall of the library. This session of the salon was taught by Professor Xu Jiahua of the Department of Stage Design and attended by nearly 30 teachers and staff members.
During the event, Professor Xu Jiahua used vivid examples and pictures to show the importance of professional image. She pointed out that as a social role, occupation needs to be identified to prove that its actual status, identity and so on are consistent with the role it undertakes, and the identification of the role is completed in long-term social interaction. Therefore, the professional image should meet the expectations of the society and the public and be recognized by the society. Professor Xu also shared the students' works of the “Coloring” project of the Department of Stage Design over the years, which allowed the participating teachers to not only appreciate different costume modeling, but also made them understand the difficulty of artistic creation. In the second half of the lecture, Professor Xu Jiahua also invited teacher Feng Yanrong to give an on-the-spot guidance on how to enhance one's personality and image through makeup. The teachers all found the more than two hours of salon activities too short and hoped that the similar activities could be held again.
The teachers’ salon activities aim to better serve the broad community of teachers and staff, making it a platform to promote exchange, expand interests and enhance accomplishment.
