On 18 March, General Secretary Xi Jinping chaired a symposium for teachers of ideological and political courses in schools and delivered an important speech. On the afternoon of 28 March, the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA) held a meeting on studying General Secretary Xi Jinping's speech at the Symposium for Teachers of Ideological and Political Theory Courses in Schools and a seminar on the reform of ideological and political theory courses, and conducted in-depth discussions and exchanges on studying the spirit of the General Secretary Xi Jinping's speech and on how to implement the requirements of the General Secretary for the teaching work of ideological and political theory courses. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Party Secretary of STA Hu Min, and attended by Deputy Party Secretary and Vice President of STA Zhang Weiling, Vice President of STA Liu Qing, Dean of Department of Humanities and Social Sciences Chen Min, as well as all teachers of ideological and political theory courses and the heads of relevant functional departments including the communications department, academic affairs division, student affairs department and faculty affairs department etc.
The teachers of ideological and political theory courses, as the front-line workers in teaching, first shared their studying experience. On the basis of the remarks made by the teachers of ideological and political theory courses, Dean of Department of Humanities and Social Sciences Chen Min put forward a number of new ideas for the teaching reform of ideological and political theory courses at STA.
The heads of the communications department, academic affairs division, student affairs department and faculty affairs department also talked about their reflections from studying the important speech made by General Secretary Xi Jinping at the Symposium for Teachers of Ideological Political Theory Courses in Schools, and shared their views on such aspects as creating a sound learning atmosphere on STA campuses, promoting STA’s curriculum development of ideological and political theory courses, giving full play to the role of teachers to teach knowledge and cultivate people, and strengthening the effectiveness of student counselors’ ideological and political work for students.
The STA leaders attending the seminar gave full recognition to the teaching work of STA’s teachers of ideological and political theory courses at the front line. In the context of STA’s reality, they also put forward the requirements and expectations on how to further strengthen the development of ideological and political theory courses at STA.
Through the meeting and discussion, the teachers of ideological and political theory courses were greatly encouraged by the importance attached by the STA leaderships to and their support for the development of ideological and political theory courses at STA, and deeply felt the responsibility on their shoulders. The teachers all expressed that under the centralized leadership of the CPC Committee of STA, through the joint steering of the party and administrative leaderships and coordinated efforts of relevant departments, they were confident that the ideological and political theory courses would develop well, and effectively play the important role in the work of establishing moral values and cultivate people.
