From 24 to 26 May 2018, the first National Forum of Art Management for Young Scholars was held at the Shanghai Theater Academy. The theme of this forum was "The Academic Paradigm and Theoretical Value of Arts Management Studies". Professor Huang Changyong, Vice Chairman and President of the Shanghai Theatre Academy, and a number of famous experts and scholars from around China were invited to attend the forum and give keynote presentations. Professor Zhang Yuzhen of the Tainan National University of the Arts, and Professor Francois Colbert, founder of the International Association of Arts and Cultural Management and founder of the Journal of International Arts Management, were also invited to speak at the relevant events of the forum.

More than 60 young scholars of arts management from more than 50 art schools and cultural institutions around China participated in the forum. Professor Liu Qing and Professor Yang Yang, Vice Presidents of the Shanghai Theatre Academy, addressed the opening and closing ceremonies respectively, and a number of professors and teachers from the College of Creative Studies of the Shanghai Theatre Academy chaired the various panels and sessions of the forum in succession. The success of the forum also attracted extensive media attention with enthusiastic coverage by The Paper and Youth Daily.

The National Forum of Art Management for Young Scholars was created by the Shanghai Theatre Academy in conjunction with the National Art Theory Society and the China Arts Management Education Association, aiming to fully engage outstanding young scholars of arts management at different educational institutions and other organizations to discuss academic ideas, exchange theoretical achievements and promote the development of the art management discipline. The forum will be held every two years in the even-numbered years and be built into a public platform for the collective voice and joint progress of young scholars in the field of arts management.
