Shanghai is the place where the Chinese drama sprouted. It is also the place where there is the most prosperous market and the strongest audience base for drama in recent years. On 23 May, the 2018 Shanghai Jingan Modern Drama Valley "One Drama Grand Award Presentation Ceremony" was held at the Majestic Theatre. Mr Jiao Huang, the 82-year-old alumnus of the Shanghai Theater Academy (1955-1959), won the China Drama Outstanding Contribution Award 2018. "Hurricane" won the Classic Production Award 2018. The youth version of “Hurricane” was reproduced by the Shanghai Theatre Academy with Ms Tian Qinxin as the playwright and director, which created a hot wave among the audiences as much sought-after and acclaimed play in 2017. Using the latest visual art and interactive modern aesthetic, "Hurricane" demonstrated the soul of the nation in a way that the contemporary people are easy to accept and won the unanimous recognition of the industry and general public. The One Drama Grand Award is jointly sponsored by the Jingan District People's Government of Shanghai, the Shanghai Radio and TV Station and the Shanghai Theater Academy.
