STA’s Acting Department holds "Pu Cunxin Acting Workshop" as scheduled

On the afternoon of 7 May 7, Mr Pu Cunxin, the famous performing artist, came to the Shanghai Theater Academy (STA) where met cordially with the students of the Tibetan Class of BA Acting 2017 of the Acting Department and began the teaching activities of the "Pu Cunxin Acting Workshop (Tibetan Class)" which will last for nearly one week.

Mr Pu Cunxin, a National Grade 1 actor, is President of the China Theatre Association, Vice President of the China Performers Association, Vice president of the China Film Association and a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), and is also a guest professor at the Shanghai Theater Academy.

The students of the Tibetan Class greeted the venerable teacher in their heart with warm and joyful songs and dances and Hada (a Tibetan traditional greeting gift). The welcome ceremony was short but ceremonious.

Then, one by one, the students made a presentation of their talent showing their skills in singing, movement, lines and so on. In the course of listening and appreciating, Mr Pu Cunxin provided detailed coaching and pertinent suggestions to each student. He also made highly infectious demo from which the students were able to feel the superb professional skills of a performing artist as well as his in-depth theoretical study of the performing arts, and obtain lifelong benefit.

Through the interaction during the first lesson, Mr Pu Cunxin felt confident of the students of the Tibetan Class, and recognized the state of learning state and professionalism of the students. He said that he will help guide their undergraduate study during the long-term exchange and interaction in the future. The students became more respectful to Mr Pu Cunxin for his sincere, kind, modest and honest attitude towards people, and for his approach of giving earnest, methodical and patient guidance.

The "Pu Cunxin Acting Workshop" is in progress. With the support of the university administration, STA’s Acting Department will also accumulate more experience, explore more and richer teaching models for actor training, and make further contributions to the teaching reform.
