On the evening of 24 April 2018, the College of Continuing Education of the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA) held the 7th talent show in the STA’s Duanjun Theater. Ms Zhang Jiachun, member of the STA leadership and Chief Financial Officer of STA, and the heads of the STA College of Continuing Education and relevant offices of STA attended the event. Mr Chen Jianian, Dean of the STA School of Dance, Professor Fan Yisong of the Acting Department and Associated Professor Zhou Yanxia of the Acting Department were invited to be the judges for the talent show.
During the talent show, students from various campuses of the College of Continuing Education showed talent such as dance, violin, solo, recitation and Chinese traditional opera and so on. These performances were modified innovatively on the basis of the original performances to add many fashionable and popular elements. Finally, the Shaoxing Opera singing performance by a student of the Class of 2018 Junior College-University Connecting Program from the Xuhui campus won the first prize; three performances of Peking Opera, dubbing and Pipa playing and singing from the Pudong campus won the second prize; two performances from the Lianhua Road campus and one performance from the Pudong campus won the third prize.
At the end of the competition, Associate Professor Zhou Yanxia gave a wonderful comment. She thought that all performers had their own unique features and was proud of their talents. Finally, Ms Zhang Jiachun, member of STA leadership and Chief Financial Officer of STA, made the concluding speech to wrap up the talent show. She thought that the talent show had provided a wonderful stage for students to show their diverse talents. She pointed out that art education should embody humanistic care. She also put forward the suggestion for the STA College of Continuing Education to collaborate with the Shanghai Conservatory of Music and encouraged all people concerned to create more excellent works.
