On the morning of 13 April, hosted by the College of Chinese Traditional Opera of the Shanghai Theatre Academy, the "Seminar on the Operation of China Puppet and Shadow Puppet Art Talent Training Base in the New Era and Signing Ceremony" was officially held.
The seminar was attended by Li Yannian, Chairman of the China Centre of the International Puppet Association of UNESCO and President of the China Puppet and Shadow Puppet Art Association, Tang Dayu, Chairman of the Asia Pacific Committee of the International Puppet Association of UNESCO, Secretary General of the China Center of the International Puppet Association of UNESCO and Executive Vice President and Secretary General of the China Puppet and Shadow Puppet Art Association, as well as the heads and experts of many companies and troupes around China.
In 2008, the College of Chinese Traditional Opera of the Shanghai Theater Academy was entrusted by the China Center of the International Puppet Association of UNESCO to establish the China Puppet and Shadow Puppet Art Talent Training Base. Students from the training base have won dozens of awards in the international and domestic puppet competitions and puppet festivals, and have also been to countries and regions like Australia, Poland, Hungary, Montenegro, South Korea, the UK, Hong Kong, Macao and to participate in different kinds of performances and competitions in which they have made great achievements. Going forward, the China Puppet and Shadow Puppet Art Talent Training Base will strengthen the linkage and interaction with the China Center of the International Puppet Association and the China Puppet and Shadow Puppet Art Association to jointly improve the quality of teaching and better cultivate the compound talents who meet the requirements of the times for the puppet and shadow puppet circle in China.
After the speeches, Secretary General Tang Dayu, on behalf of the China Puppet and Shadow Puppet Art Association, signed the Renewal Agreement on the China Puppet and Shadow Puppet Art Talent Training Base with the Shanghai Theatre Academy. The representatives of the two sides took a photo to mark the occasion.
After the signing ceremony, Zheng Wen, Head of Puppet Major, College of Chinese Traditional Opera, Shanghai Theater Academy, chaired the seminar and provided a detailed introduction of the basic situation of talent training at the base over the last 10 years. The leaders and experts also discussed the current development trend of puppet and shadow puppet, and put forward highly constructive opinions with regard to the models, plans and development directions of puppet and shadow puppet art talent training in the new era. The seminar was concluded in a pleasant atmosphere.
