STA wins Excellent Project Award 2017 of Shanghai Culture, Science & Technology and Public Health Rural Outreach Program

On 2 April, the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission held the ceremony to award the advanced organizations and individuals in the Shanghai Culture, Science & Technology and Public Health Rural Area Outreach Program 2017. “Let Youth Sing Aloud - Domestic Cultural Exchange and Volunteer Service Activities” of the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA) won the “Excellent Project Award”.

The Shanghai Culture, Science & Technology and Public Health Rural Area Outreach Program 2017 was jointly sponsored by the Publicity Department of CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, Shanghai Municipal Spiritual Civilization Office, Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Commission, Shanghai Municipal Justice Bureau, Shanghai Municipal Agricultural Commission, Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture, Radio, Film and TV, Shanghai Municipal Family Planning Commission, Shanghai Municipal Press and Publishing Bureau, Youth League Shanghai Municipal Committee, Shanghai Municipal Women’s Federation, Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Association. It is an important livelihood project to carry out the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress, implement the strategy of rural revitalization, and help with the targeted poverty alleviation. STA’s “Let Youth Sing Aloud – Domestic Cultural Exchange and Volunteer Service Activities” is a campus cultural project of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission that STA has undertaken since 2014 in which STA collaborates with other universities and colleges in Shanghai such as the Shanghai Music Conservatory, East China Normal University, Fudan University, Shanghai Sport University, Donghua University, Shanghai Institute of Visual Arts and Shanghai Film Art Academy to establish the University Student Cultural Volunteer Team whose footprints have reached such regions as Xinjiang, Yunnan, Sichuan and Guizhou bringing excellent works of culture and art to the students and general public in the West China region and putting poverty alleviation through culture and co-construction of civilization into practice. It has become a brand project for university students in Shanghai to bring cultural activities to the rural countryside and for cultural exchange activities.
