Delegates from STA or with STA background participated in CPPCC National Committee meeting

On the morning of 3 March, the first session of the 13th National Committee of the China People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) was held in Beijing. Ms Wang Su, Vice Chairwoman of Trade Union of the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA), famous voice actor and Associate Professor at STA’s Acting Department, participated in the meeting as a newly elected member of the CPPCC National Committee.

As a delegate from the cultural and artistic circles, Ms Wang Su, together with other 64 newly elected Shanghai-based members of CPPCC National Committee, arrived in Beijing on 27 February to participated in a three-day training organized by the CPPCC National Committee for the newly elected members. Ms Wang Su deeply felt the sense of great honour and significant responsibility towards the new mission. She expressed that the training had enable her to have a better understanding of and familiarity with the work of the CPPCC and clarified the responsibilities and obligations of the delegates to the CPPCC meeting, and that she would concentrate on the meeting with full political enthusiasm and good spirit and would will focus on the areas of art and culture development and art talent cultivation and actively participate in the consultation and discussion of state affairs to put forward proposals and suggestions for culture and art development and art education as well as make appeals and suggestions for the development of Shanghai.

It is worth mentioning that three of the five members from the cultural and artistic circles among all Shanghai-based members of the CPPCC National Committee attending this year’s CPPCC meeting were from STA or with STA background. Besides Ms Wang Su, the other two members were Ms Xi Meijuan and Ms Xin Lili. Ms Xi Meijuan graduated from STA’s Acting Department and is a National Grade A Actor at the Shanghai Centre for Dramatic Arts. She is now Vice Chairwoman of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and a guest professor at STA. Ms Xin Lili graduated from the Shanghai Dance School (i.e. Dance School affiliated to STA). She is now Director of the Shanghai Ballet and a National Grade A Actor. All of them, who are either from STA or with STA background, have made excellent achievements in their respective area of work.
