Plaque unveiling ceremony of STA Dramaturgy Chongming Practice Base and inspiration collection field trip for teachers and students are held successfully

On the morning of 2 February, a group of 32 teachers and students of the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA), led by Professor Lu Jun, Director of Dramaturgy Research Centre, came to Shanghai’s Chongming Island where they attended the plaque unveiling ceremony of the STA Dramaturgy Chongming Practice Base and carried out a suite of inspiration collection activities. Invited to join this event included Professor Su Chen, Secretary-General of the Shanghai Education Association and femurs educationist, Professor Ye Changhai, Director of the Academic Committee of the Shanghai Theatre Academy and President of the Chinese Ancient Opera Society, and Professor Yao Kougen, Head of the Shanghai Comprehensive Art Education Micro-film Project and former Director of the Science and Research Division of the Shanghai Theatre Academy.

After two hours of travel by bus, the group first arrived at the Chongming Planning Exhibition Hall and Chongming Museum for a tour. After the lunch break, they arrived at the Fengyingzhou Theatre of the Chongming Cultural Centre where they attended the plaque unveiling ceremony of the STA Dramaturgy Chongming Practice Base and watched the performance given by the Luyao Art Troupe. During the interval of the performance, Professor Lu Jun, Director of the Dramaturgy Research Centre of the Shanghai Theatre Academy, and Mr Gao Xinfeng, Deputy Director of the Chongming District Cultural Bureau, unveiled the plaque of the STA Dramaturgy Chongming Practice Base and conducted the plaque presentation ceremony, symbolizing the rise of the cooperation between the two sides to a new step. After the conclusion of the performance, the group came to the conference room on the 3rd floor of the Chongming Cultural Centre for a cordial talk and in-depth discussion and exchange of ideas with Mr Ji Hongyi, Director of the Chongming Cultural Centre, Mr Huang Xiao, Director of the Chongming Office for Protection of Intangible Cultural Heritage, and Ms Wang Yujun, Director of the Luyao Education and Training Centre. In the evening, the students gathered in the room of the teachers where they listened to the teacher about their life experiences and artistic perceptions and shared the teachers’ wisdom of life and their experiences of creation and research. Next morning, the group visited the Xisha Wetland Park and the local farm product market.

The two-day visit in the Chongming Island for the practice base plaque unveiling ceremony and inspiration collection field trip came to the end. The practice base in Chongming is the 7th dramaturgy practice base to date and will witness the vigorous growth of the dramaturgy in the future.
