On the morning of 5 February 2018, the Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA) held the press conference on the undergraduate admissions and entrance examination of 2018 in the ground floor conference room of the Foxi Building at STA’s Huashan Road campus. More than 30 media organizations, including the People’s Daily, Xinhua News Agency, China Education Daily, Wenhui Daily, Jiefang Daily and Shanghai TV Station, attended the press release conference.
At the press conference, Mr Liu Zhixin, Director of the Admissions Office, introduced the overall situation of application for STA’s 2018 admissions as well as the arrangements for entrance examination this year. By 9 pm on 31 January, the online application for STA’s undergraduate admissions this year has closed with the number of applicants increasing from 21,782 person/times last year to 30,929 person/times this year, i.e. an increase of 9,000 person/times. The number of applicants this year has again reached a record high. The entrance examination for this year’s admissions will last for two weeks from 26 February to 11 March. The entrance examination for Acting (Theatre, Film and TV) and that for Broadcasting and Professional Hosting will be the first to begin on 26 February, followed by the entrance examination for other specialties which will also begin in succession. This year, STA plans to recruit 464 full-time undergraduate students in 22 specialties (directions).
At the press conference, Professor Huang Changyog, President of STA, introduced STA’s philosophy of education as well as the preparatory work for the establishment of the STA-Ali Film School and its recruitment plan. Ms Hu Min, Vice Chairwoman of STA, introduced STA’s work on the standardization, systematization and institutionalization of the admissions and entrance examination.
The media representatives communicated and discussed the matters related to STA’s admissions and entrance examination with the leaders and experts of STA present at the press conference.
