From 12 to 13 January 2018, the periodical research results release conference of Liu Qingyi Contemporary Dance Research Studio, a project of the Shanghai Cultural-Education Integration Program, was held successfully at the Shanghai International Dance Center. The conference was jointly hosted by the Dance Research Institute of the Shanghai Theater Academy Research, the School of Dance of the Shanghai Theater Academy, the editorial office of "Contemporary Dance Art Research" and the Liu Qingyi Contemporary Dance Research Studio, which included a special performance and a corresponding doctoral forum.
On the evening of 12 January, the special performance was held at the Experimental Theatre of the Shanghai International Dance Center. The performance was presented in two forms, i.e. theoretical discussion (Q & A via video) and experimental performance of creative works. Mr Zhang Weiling, Vice president of the Shanghai Theater Academy, Professor Lu Yisheng of the Beijing Dance Academy, Professor Zheng Huihui of the Shanghai Normal University, Mr Huang Huimin, Editor of the Shanghai Music Publishing House and a number of scholars from around the country attended the performance and fully acknowledged its research-oriented nature and academic rationality based on the combination of theory and practice.
On the morning of 13 January, the doctoral forum was held in the 4th floor conference room of the School of Dance of the Shanghai Theatre Academy, which was attended by doctoral candidates from 13 universities around the country, who gave wonderful presentations on the contemporary development of Chinese classical dance from the perspectives of their own research. This forum was chaired by Professor Liu Qingyi. At the forum, Mr Zhang Weiling, Vice President of the Shanghai Theatre Academy, expressed the hope that the establishment of the Dance Research Institute of the Shanghai Theater Academy could set up a disciplinary platform for the studies of dance in China and even the world, so as to show the demeanor of Chinese dance, especially the trend of flourishing development of academic research. Professor Zheng Huihui and Professor Lu Yisheng also delivered speeches at the forum.
