On 12 January 2018, the "2017 The Actor of China Award Ceremony and 2018 The Actor of China Forum" was held in Yangzhou Municipality of Jiangsu Province. The event was jointly hosted by the China Television Artist Association and Actors’ Working Committee. The event aimed to upgrade the overall quality of moral cultivation, professional accomplishment and social conservation of Chinese film and television actors, to encourage artists to be conscientiously in their work and steadfast in their life, and to elect "good persons, good plays and good actors" from within the industry and establish a good image of the industry. A large number of famous playwrights, directors, producers, artists and scholars got together to jointly witness the birth of the winners of the 2017 The Actor of China and discuss the development of television arts in a new era.
Professor He Yan, Dean of the Acting Department of the Shanghai Theatre Academy, was invited to the forum to give a keynote speech. Professor He Yan provided an analysis of the situation of actor training and education at home and abroad, and shared openly and honestly with other participants on how to rise to the difficulties and challenges facing the actor training and education in China by drawing on the Shanghai Theatre Academy’s experience in the comprehensive reform of its acting specialty that keeps pace with the times and is all-embracing. Good actors are inseparable from good acting training and education. In his speech, Professor He Yan, as an acting educator and administrator with wide vision and long years of accumulated teaching experience accumulated over the years, provided fresh thinking and broad perspective to other participants, and also made the people look forward the future of China’s actor training and education.
