On 13 January 2018, the Winter Institute 2018 concluded officially. It was the 7th time that the Shanghai Theatre Academy had hosted this program. This year, the program was co-sponsored by four American universities, namely, Yale University, Columbia University, Brown University and New York University. The professors from these four universities traveled from afar to the Shanghai Theatre Academy to conduct a rich and diverse program of lectures and workshops together with the professors of the Shanghai Theatre Academy. Nearly one students actively participated in a wide range of courses offered in the program and also had the opportunity to watch a number of performances including "Water Heavens" by Tan Dun.
The 10 days were not long but provided a rare opportunity for our students to understand how the first-class universities in the USA delivers art education so that they could have more open ideas and think about our art education with a more internationalized and more inclusive perception and set foot on their own artistic path.
Every year in January, young students from China and foreign countries come together for mutual exchange and Chinese and foreign teachers work together to demonstrate and explore the experience in theatre education. This platform of mutual exchange and mutual appreciation between Chinese and western cultures has enabled us the feel the charm of art.
