On 28 December, the Degree and Postgraduate Education Development Centre of the Ministry of Education publicized the results of the fourth national discipline evaluation. The fourth round of evaluation was conducted in 2016 within the scope of 95 Grade A disciplines (excluding 16 disciplines in such categories as military science) and covering 7,449 courses of 513 institutions. According to the principle of "precise calculation and graded publication", the evaluation results were publicized in such a way that the disciplines scoring 70% and higher out of 100% based on the “score of overall strength” were publicized in nine bands.
The Shanghai Theatre Academy (STA) submitted four courses in the category of Grade One discipline , namely, "Theatre, Film and Television", "Arts Theory", "Music and Dance" and "Design", to participate in the evaluation. In the whole country, a total of 51 higher education institutions participated in the evaluation of "Theatre, Film and Television" as a Grade A discipline, and STA ranked the 2nd nationally side by side with the Central Academy of Drama and the Beijing Film Academy.
